GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Certain fruits and vegetables you eat may contain high levels of pesticides.

This year’s Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce just came out. It says about 95% of non-organic strawberries, leafy greens, peaches and pears contained pesticides.

You might have heard about their “Dirty Dozen” before. The Environmental Working Group creates the study.

It says nectarines, apples, bell peppers and hot peppers, along with cherries, berries and green beans rounded out the list for the most contaminated samples of produce.

A majority of the testing was done by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other government agencies. They had over 47,000 samples of 46 non-organic fruits and vegetables.

Pesticides have been linked to pre-term births and heart disease, cancer, and other disorders.

Experts say exposure to pesticides has also been associated with lower sperm concentrations.
