U.S. Army Sgt. Maj. Jerry L. Bell and U.S. Master Sgt. Mike C. Peña were honored Monday morning at the Texas State Capitol.

AUSTIN, Texas — In the state of Texas, military service members can receive no higher decoration than the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor. The award recognizes those who have demonstrated a voluntary act of bravery or sacrifice. 

On Monday, Gov. Greg Abbott posthumously awarded Medals of Honor to two service members: U.S. Army Sgt. Maj. Jerry L. Bell and U.S. Master Sgt. Mike C. Peña.
