CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The Cooper River Bridge Run, one of the world’s best-known 10K races, has seen its first runners cross the finish line!

Ali Abdilmana, 22, of Ethiopia and Sarah Naibei, 25, of Kenya won in Men’s and Women’s categories, and Krige Schabort, 60, of Rome, Georgia has won the Wheelchair category!

The Ravenel Bridge reopened to traffic at 11 a.m. Saturday. Charleston Police say downtown road closures will continue until further notice.

The annual race attracts tens of thousands of runners, walkers and spectators to the Lowcountry. The race’s starting line is on Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant. Runners will then cross the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, which prompted the slogan, “Get over it,” and continue into downtown Charleston to the finish line on Meeting Street.
