LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Sandy Lark is a part-time teacher at Messiah Lutheran School in Lincoln. She’s also a new author, of the recently published children’s book, “The Farmer, The Mrs., and I.”

Saturday, Barnes and Noble at Southpointe held a book-signing event that began with a reading. Children from Messiah Lutheran around Lincoln sat in a circle for the event.

The book is about a calf named Lucky, who fell ill after birth and his health journey. Lark said she and her husband knew something was wrong when the calf wouldn’t walk. Even after intervention from a vet, the calf still refused to walk.

“Being pet lovers and farmers, we knew we needed to help him as much as we could,” Lark said.

Lark said she took the advice of a friend and decided to bring the sick calf ‘Lucky’ into her home to nurse him back to health.
