ROME (Gray News) – Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli has died at age 83, his company reported in an Instagram post.

“It is with great sadness that today we say our final goodbyes to our founder Roberto Cavalli,” the photo image said in part. “From humble beginnings in Florence Roberto succeeded in becoming a globally recognized name loved and respected by all.’

The world-famous designer was known for his flamboyant and glamorous style.

According to The Associated Press, Cavalli became renowned in the 1970s for his use of animal prints, which would become a trademark of his designs.

“Rest in peace you will be missed and you are loved by so many that your name will continue, a beacon of inspiration for others, and especially for me,” Fausto Puglisi also said in the post.

Puglisi has been the creative director at the company since Oct. 2020.
