According to Alaska State statute, no money shall be paid from public funds for the direct benefit of any religious or other private educational institution.

Some families are now worried after an anguished judge ruled that some homeschool programs have violated constitutional law, as some families receive money from the state for homeschooling.

One mom, Andrea, is now worried about her son’s education.

“We use our funds for purchasing some courses through a private school. Nothing is being funneled or directly goes to private schools,” said Andrea Moceri, who has a student in homeschool.

Homeschool allows Andre. It’s a pick the courses she wants for her child.

“Classes that I select for them are like math seminar, science composition. Those classes have all been vetted,” says Moceri.

Andrea says her son is thriving, even completing his first science fair with the classes she chose.
