Mushroom hunter discovers body of man missing since 2017, officials say [Video]

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Mo. (KY3/Gray News) – The body of a man who had been missing for nearly half a decade was found in Missouri by a mushroom hunter earlier this month, according to authorities.

Investigators in Douglas County said the body was identified as Curtis Goodwin, who reportedly disappeared in December of 2017.

Goodwin, who was from Sparta, Missouri, was 37 years old when he went missing, officials said. Goodwin was nowhere to be found for 10 years, but wasn’t reported missing until some time later because he was estranged from family, according to KY3.

Goodwin’s disappearance went unsolved until a morel mushroom hunter found his body off of State Highway T, located west of Ava.

Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase said bodies of missing persons are often found around this time of year.
