DEUEL, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Trey Maaland is from Clear Lake and is a leader at Deuel High School.

The two-year varsity captain for both the football and basketball teams is also a 4.0 GPA student.

“If I could tell the younger kids anything, it would be to just realize try to look forward to when your grades are going to matter and when the school is going to matter and be important and just when times get tough, to keep pushing through,” said Trey.

“He’s a fabulous student like you say. He works just as hard in the classroom as he does with all of his sports, helping out at home with all of his chores. He’s always working hard and really putting in the effort that he needs to no matter what the situation is,” said Deuel High School science teacher Katie Hinker.
