Alaska observes National Crime Victims Rights Week [Video]

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) has been made official by The Alaska House Majority as a result of passing House Concurrent Resolution 16 (HCR 16). This commemoration week will be observed on April 21 to April 27, 2024, reaffirming Alaska’s commitment to keep victims’ rights safe.

Established in 1981, NCVRW stands for solidarity and encourages people to remove barriers in hopes of achieving justice for all victims of a crime. The US Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime, decided on the theme for 2024, being “How would you help? Options, services, and hope for crime survivors”. This year’s theme hopes to provide a safe space for victims to share their experiences and to garner support and life-saving services.
