INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Supreme Court has denied a rehearing for John Rust in relation to his eligibility to be on the Republican party ballot in the U.S. Senate race.

In March, the state’s supreme court reversed a trial court ruling, affirming that Rust was not eligible to run as a Republican in the 2024 U.S. Senate race, citing the state’s affiliation statute.

Rust failed to vote in two consecutive Republican primary elections or failed to receive certification to run in the election from a county Republican chairperson, one of which a candidate has to do to be eligible to run for a position under the statute.

A Marion County judge initially ruled that the statute was unconstitutional, but the Indiana Supreme Court affirmed the statute’s constitutionality.
