Vermont-based Beta Technologies has solidified its position as a frontrunner in the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) industry by achieving a historic milestone: the first successful transition from vertical hover to airplane-like cruise flight with a pilot on board. This breakthrough, documented in a video released by the company, underscores Beta’s commitment to developing practical and commercially viable eVTOL solutions.

Building on early success

Beta’s journey to this achievement began in 2020 when it emerged as a leader in the eVTOL space, known for its focus on real-world testing and development rather than mere concepts and renderings. This dedication to tangible progress was recognized in 2021 when Beta secured the second spot on the Advanced Air Mobility Reality Index (AAM RI).
