Coleman Center for the Arts promotes art and agriculture opportunities in west Alabama [Video]

YORK, Ala. (WTOK) – In west Alabama, the Coleman Center for the Arts has a wealth of programs and resources aimed at incorporating art into education and promoting community development.

The Coleman Center was founded in 1985 through a grassroots effort to create a space to showcase regional artists and foster small-scale food production.

Dr. Marguerite Hinrichs, the Executive Director and Curator, said the center offers several programs for all ages to immerse the Black Belt region into a contemporary arts experience.

“The mission of the Coleman Center for the Arts is to serve the community and solve the issues of the community through the arts and so we do that through a variety of programs and services.
