ROCHESTER, Minn.- The Rochester City Council is continuing to tackle the issue of affordable housing with the sale of six lots in the Homestead Trails neighborhood to the First Home Community Land Trust, but some members of the neighborhood are disappointed it will come at the cost of 10 year old community garden.

KIMT news 3 talked to some neighborhood members about the sale, and opinions were mixed.

Some like Laurie Reinhardt, one of the gardeners, were disappointed to see the garden go, after investing 10 years of using the space as a community gathering space.

“Yes, having low income houses in Rochester is important. All of us agree on that. But having a green space where people can gather and be a part of a community and share and take care of each other, that’s important too,” Reinhardt said.
