TIFTON, Ga. (WALB/Gray News) – A Georgia family says their child continues to fight for his life after he was hit by a vehicle after school earlier this week.

Isaiah Silva, 5, has been in the hospital since Tuesday when the crash happened.

His family says he remains in “very critical” condition and was put into medically induced coma on Thursday.

Isiah’s family said doctors are also using a brain monitor and cooling blanket to monitor his recovery and to help with his fevers.

According to police, an SUV hit Isiah while he was running across a crosswalk from Len Lastinger Elementary School.

Police said the 71-year-old driver of the SUV was not speeding and tried to give first aid immediately after the crash.

The boy’s father, Arnie Silva, said he has been with his son at the hospital since the collision, but expects a long road ahead.
