DANBURY, CT (WFSB) – An area of I-84 West in Danbury was closed following a crash involving a state police cruiser Friday night.
Officers responded to the crash in the area of Exit 8 Westbound at 9:05 pm.
State police say a trooper had responded to the area for a previous crash and was protecting an accident scene.
“While parked on the shoulder of the road as the wrecker operators were clearing this scene, another tractor-trailer came around the corner, losing control, jackknifing, and striking an SUV with three people, and then crashing into the State Police cruiser,” the Danbury Fire Department said.
Three people were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Four more declined treatment.
There was also an extensive diesel fuel leak. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded for the cleanup.
The Highway was closed for three hours.
