FBI investigates explosion on North Ave. in Bridgeport [Video]

BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) – We’re now getting a look at the damage inside a Bridgeport apartment building after an explosion early Thursday morning.

It happened on North Avenue.

Authorities said a person who was seen in the building prior to the blast is now under arrest.

Bridgeport police said Nelson Diaz, a convicted felon, was identified as a person of interest and arrested Thursday morning on a disorderly conduct charge.

According to police, Diaz was seen roaming the halls Wednesday night and Thursday morning and spotted exiting the front door and walking briskly to his car seconds after the explosion.

10-year-old Sophia Dos Santos was sound asleep inside her apartment when her mother woke her up around 12:30 Thursday morning, telling her they had to get out.
