Fort Scotts Gordon Parks Museum to make notable upgrades [Video]

FORT SCOTT, Kan. — The Gordon Parks Museum at Fort Scott Community College is making some major upgrades.

Thanks to grants totaling nearly $50,000 from the Timken Foundation and Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage, the museum is upgrading its technology and interactive displays.

Museum officials will be adding at least six large 43-to-86-inch interactive touch screen displays and monitors, a high-resolution scanner, new digital cameras and laptops, plus audio devices for visitors with hearing disabilities.

Executive director Kirk Sharp says the upgrades will take the visitors’ experience to another level.

“This gives us a great opportunity to expand the museum without having to add brick and mortar because so many visitors learn through so many different ways. So, this is a great new modern approach for our visitors to have a better experience at the museum,” said Sharp.
