BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Baltimore City has hit a nine-year low in the percentage of students graduating high school in four years.
WBFF reviewed the four-year graduation rates from 2022 and found 10 high schools in Baltimore City where fewer than half the students graduated in that period.
In 2017, WBFF was there as the Baltimore Ravens announced a $1.5 million donation to Renaissance Academy, a high school in west Baltimore. Much of the money went toward renovations.
Ravens Hall of Famer Ed Reed helped unveil the upgrades, including a science lab and art studio.
“You want to make sure they have an environment that they can go to, and it changes their lives in a great way, positive way,” Reed said at the time.
Then-principal Nikkia Rowe was fighting to keep the school open. She hoped the Ravens’ investment could be a game changer for student outcomes.
