Honeywell celebrates 75 years after Harry Truman developed the Atomic Energy Commission [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Honeywell Federal Manufacturing Technologies is celebrating 75 years of operation in Kansas City.

Yes, you may recognize Honeywell from the temperature gauge, but they specialize in something that should grab your attention first.

The manufacturer side of the company in South Kansas City is responsible for 80% of the housing used in the United States nuclear bomb arsenal – whether it is fired from underwater, the ground, air or dropped from a plane.

“The mission hasn’t changed, we still deliver non-nuclear components – we don’t deal with things radioactive,” Honeywell FM&T President Eric Wollerman said.

The Kansas City National Security Campus is located south of Grandview, and it is managed by Honeywell FM&T. The current location opened in 2014, and at that time had a workforce of around 2,400.

This year they surpassed 7,000 employees.
