WASHINGTON (7News) — United States Park Police horses officially have a new home and just in time for cherry blossom season.
The horses will reside inside a new state-of-the-art facility that has been decades in the making.
If you have ever walked the National Mall, you probably see USPP horses patrolling the grounds. But what you might not know is that they have not had a permanent home, despite being the oldest police equestrian units in the United States, dating back to 1791.

Now, thanks to the Trust for the National Mall and the private funding, there is a luxury and state-of-the-art facility with an education center that will welcome the public for the first time ever to learn about the horses and their history on the mall, which is expected to open in June.
