Level 2 evacuations in place for fire burning in Okanogan County [Video]

According to Okanogan County Emergency Management, the fire is burning near Carlton, Washington.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A fire burning near Carlton, Washington is prompting level 2 “Be Ready” evacuations. That’s according to Okanogan County Emergency Management (OCEM). 

The Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says the fire is burning about 100 acres and is currently 0% contained. Officials with the emergency management team say it is moving south near Gold Creek Road. They also say winds are predicted to increase in the afternoon.

DNR crews have responded to the #GoldCreekFire approx. 3 miles south of Carlton in Okanogan County. The fire was first reported yesterday at 4:45pm and is estimated at 50 acres. A Type-3 Incident Mgt Team has been ordered and are arriving. Further updates as conditions change.
