Mayor of N.J.s biggest city and First Lady said Murphy should veto this bill [Video]

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, a candidate for governor, on Wednesday called on fellow Democrat Gov. Phil Murphy to veto a controversial bill critics say would diminish government transparency and attempts to uncover corruption.

The bill (S2930) would change the state’s Open Public Records Act, which is used by the public to request anything from public meeting agendas and decisions to salaries and contracts.

The measure was passed by state lawmakers in the Senate and Assembly to boos and shouts that echoed throughout both chambers a week ago Monday. It is now at the governor’s desk.
