INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) – Days after MO Route 291 in Independence was closed due to a crack in the mine below it, MoDOT says the road is safe and ready to reopen.

On June 27, a section of MO Route 291 from Truman Road to U.S. 24 was closed until further notice after a new crack was found in the mine below it. Crews immediately began evaluating the mine and determining if the road could be reopened for traffic.
