NCAA Womens final breaks viewership record [Video]

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Hawkeye women have been breaking viewership records game after game in the tournament, and to no surprise, their championship final against the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks broke the record again.

Sunday’s game had a reported 18.7 million viewers tune in to ABC and ESPN – breaking the record set in the semifinal game against UCONN, which had 14.2 million.

Officials say that viewership for the women’s championship increased 89% from the previous year and 285% since 2022. They say the game ultimately peaked with 24 million viewers.

Excluding football and the Olympics, the Hawks’ game was the most-watched sporting event since 2019.
