North Texas JROTC instructor killed in Fort Worth shooting [Video]

Master Sergeant Gene Bass passed away Friday after a shooting on Chesapeake Bay Drive in Fort Worth.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Saturday, Crowley ISD confirmed the victim in a fatal Fort Worth shooting was Master Sergeant Gene Bass.

The district made the announcement in an email to North Crowley High School families, where MSGT Bass worked as a JROTC instructor.

“This is an incredibly sad time for all of us, especially those who knew MSGT Bass as an instructor and friend.” the announcement read.

MSGT Bass was a beloved staff member at NCHS, which can be seen in this video released by the district, highlighting his dedication to students in the JROTC program.

“He was an outstanding educator and colleague,”  a statement from Crowley ISD said. “…and he touched the lives of countless students and staff.
