Phoenix firefighter hospitalized after accidental shooting [Video]

The firefighter has been placed on administrative leave as the incident is investigated. Here are the latest details.

PHOENIX — A West Valley firefighter was sent to the hospital after accidentally firing his gun at a fire station, according to the Phoenix Fire Department

The department told 12News the incident happened on Saturday morning at Fire Station 25, which is near the intersection of 63rd Avenue and Indian School Road.  

Phoenix police later added that the incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. 

The firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and has been treated and released. 

He is currently on administrative leave as Phoenix police investigate what happened. 

The injured firefighter was not identified.
