SOUTH BEND, Ind.- The South Bend Police Department held their monthly crime statistics meeting and gave residents a chance to voice concerns and ask questions about specific crime in their neighborhood.

ABC57’s Julianne Grohowski joined us live outside of police headquarters off Sample Street in South Bend to share the details of tonight’s discussion.

Most notably, crimes of opportunity are on the rise.

Homicides went from zero to 3 in one month’s time.

Security footage and tips from the public are invaluable for investigators, and officials say the tips are extremely helpful in solving crimes and potentially preventing more.
