Shepherd Universitys Stubblefield Institute engages community in voter concerns [Video]

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. (DC News Now) — Before we know it Mountain State voters will be going to the polls.

West Virginia’s primary election is next month, and in Shepherdstown, some college students are out to get every citizen engaged.

This campaign season, the Stubblefield Institute on campus has invited candidates to meet with university community. GOP gubernatorial hopefuls were attended the event Tuesday.

“I just think state and local politics gets washed out in the noise of national politics,” Chelsea Wells, a Shepherd University student from Charles Town, said. “Especially as a political science major, I deeply care about it.”

Shelby Daugherty is a graduate student from Buckhannon in the north central region of West Virginia. Voting, she says, is an important responsibility.
