Parliament is blocking TikTok from its devices and networks in the latest ban imposed on the Chinese-owned social media app over security concerns. The Scottish Government also announced on Thursday (23 March) that it will follow ministers in Westminster by banning the video-sharing app from official devices. The commissions of both the House of Commons and the Lords cited security concerns as they decided to impose the ban across the Palace of Westminster. French president defends plan to raise retirement age amid new protests over pension reforms [Video]

Protesters in France continued to demonstrate Thursday against the government's plan to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64. President Emmanuel Macron defended the pension reforms in a televised interview on Wednesday, saying they were necessary and would take effect by the end of the year. Carol Vorderman said she was absolutely disgusted by the words and actions of two government ministers as she appeared before MPs to discuss menopause and the workplace. The former Countdown star said womens minister Maria Caulfield could not be bothered to turn up having refused to appear before the women and equalities committee. Ms Vorderman also criticised Kemi Badenoch for comparing women going through terrible, terrible menopausal symptoms with those with ginger hair. Protests have erupted in France over Emmanuel Macron’s decision to force a bill raising the retirement age by two years through parliament without a vote. Under the plans, workers will retire at 64 rather than 62. Protests have been ongoing for weeks over the policy, but escalated on Friday (17 March) when police officers dispersed crowds with tear gas and water cannons in Paris.
