SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A woman is dead and a man is injured after a crash early Sunday in south Sacramento.
Just before 4 a.m., three vehicles were involved in the collision on southbound Interstate 5 between Meadowview Road and Laguna Boulevard leaving one woman dead and a man, her passenger, with major injuries, according to California Highway Patrol South Sacramento spokesman Officer Mark Leavitt.
The crash’s cause is under investigation as well as if a driver was under the influence, Leavitt said.
Just after 5 a.m., the Sacramento Fire Department posted an advisory to X, formerly Twitter, saying traffic was at a standstill due to the fatal crash. Around 8 a.m., lanes were clear.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Battalion Chief Keith Wade, a fire department spokesman.
