WEST HAVEN, Conn. — West Haven police are investigating the connection between two incidents Monday night after one officer was injured breaking up a fight at a beach, and another while responding to a shooting.
According to police, officers responded to an incident that started as a dispute within a large gathering at the beach in Savin Rock Park. The group was estimated to comprise around 2,000 people, mostly teens and young adults.
One officer was injured while breaking up the fight, police said.
Shortly after, police said they made an arrest regarding a shooting at a gas station on Campbell Avenue and Blohm Street, a few blocks from the beach. Minor injuries were reported.
Another officer was injured while arresting one of the shooting suspects, police said.
