May is the month for the Omaha Vegan Chef Challenge.
From the 1st through the 31st, chefs at Omaha and Council Bluffs area restaurants will feature special vegan menu items, giving diners the opportunity to vote for their favorites, comment on social media and post photos of the vegan meals they have enjoyed.
Reelly Clean, an Omaha cleaning company, and Jennifer Waxberg Realty are sponsoring the event.
Participating restaurants include:
- Nosh, 1006 Dodge St.
- A Foreign Taste, 14242 Fort St.
- Okra African Grill, 608 S. 72nd St.
- The Papillion Taco Guy, 110 N. Washington St., Papillion
- Dante, 16901 Wright Plaza
- Nori, 1911 S. 67th St.
- Benson Brewery, 6059 Maple St.
- Laka Lono Rum Club, 1204 Howard St.
- Blue & Fly Asian Kitchen, 721 S. 72nd St., Suite 111
- The Brunch Box, 1308 Jackson St.
Planners behind the challenge will encourage the restaurants to keep the vegan items on their menus after May. Similar challenges have occurred in other cities.
