PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — It’s almost time to crank the air conditioner, and Arizonans know to brace for bigger energy bills in the hot spring and summer months. At the same time, many Arizona customers will be paying more for energy after APS recently got approval for a rate hike that will tack on more than $10 to the average customer’s monthly bill. But there are easy ways to save.
“First, we’ve got the ceiling fan. Most people may not know there are two directions a ceiling fan can turn,” said Sarah Noll, the leader of customer technology at APS. “In the summertime, we want the ceiling fan to be turning counterclockwise. That will help bring the cold air on to you and make you feel a bit cooler. That way you don’t have to run your air conditioner as much.”
