FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -Carbon capture is an increasingly popular potential solution to climate change. Storing carbon dioxide underground to prevent it from being released into the air.

North Dakota is becoming a global leader in carbon capture technology and today, agriculture and energy industry leaders hosted a panel in Fargo explaining to farmers why carbon capture is important to them not from a climate standpoint, but an economic one.

Mark Belter of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association has farmed corn and soybeans in the Leonard area for almost 30 years. But, his biggest customers aren’t using them for food, they’re used in ethanol an alternative fuel source.

Belter explains, “It’s what your customers are asking for and what they’re asking for lower carbon score on fuels.”

He attended the “Friends of Ag and Energy” panel because he’s worried if North Dakota farmers don’t lower their carbon intensity …
