American Red Cross recovery operations are ongoing in response to April 27 tornadoes across Oklahoma and Kansas | News [Video]

Okla. — The American Red Cross said recovery operations are underway to help those affected by the tornadoes over the weekend across Oklahoma and Kansas.

Red Cross announced people in need of shelter, food, power, or other essentials following the tornadoes are welcome to these shelters that have been opened by disaster workers:

• Crossway First Baptist Church (2108 W. Broadway Ave) in Sulphur 
• Christ Community Church (2620 Mt. Washington Road) in Ardmore

“Dozens of people have joined us at these shelters, including our partners such as Operation BBQ Relief and Salvation Army, who have served hundreds of meals through Tuesday,” the American Red Cross announced.

As of Tuesday night, additional shelters have opened:

• First Baptist Church (102 E 2nd Street) in New Cordell, OK and Westmoreland, KS
• Rock Creek High School (9355 Flush Road) in St. George, KS

The American Red Cross said its response is ongoing, an it will continue its recovery operations and bring resources to people in need in the affected communities.
