Americans under 30 reported to be the saddest [Video]

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., (KGET) — President of NAMI, Sharon Woolfolk, and NAMI medical advisor, Dr. Ravi Goklaney, joined 17 News at Sunrise for a segment to discuss the concerning drop in the well-being of young Americans in regard to Mental Health Awareness Month.

For the first time the U.S. drops from the happiest 20 countries in the world, according to an annual index. American kids and young people, under the age of 30, are demonstrated to be the unhappiest compared to those aged 60 and older.

Dr. Goklaney says it is due to economic hardship, social media impact, the county’s political position, and pre-covid-19 isolation.

To help improve the happiness and well-being of young American’s, Woolfolk, encourages people to reach out to NAMI, the national line to mental illness, as they provide free support groups, education, food, and medication.
