AMR therapy dog Freddie ready for National Animal Therapy Day [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Ahead of National Animal Therapy Day next week, we’re getting a first-hand look at the unconditional love a furry, four-legged friend can offer in times of trauma and crisis.

Meet 4-and-a-half-year-old goldendoodle, Freddie.

He is a qualified therapy dog, who provides unconditional love and therapy services to Springfield-based American Medical Response first responders, and impacted families during times of sadness, stress, and trauma.

Western Mass News spoke to his handler Melissa Piscatelli who told us about Freddy and how he helps.

“Freddie’s personality if I had to categorize it I would say he is kind of the class clown, he always is just goofy and mellow, and wants to flop around and play,” expressed Piscatelli. “All day long he just you know walks around to see who he can see, and who wants to say hello, and what kind of smile he can give them.”
