Work on the new $11.4 million Old Town Flats apartments downtown is expected to be finished this summer.

The five story, 36-unit complex at 2316 First Ave. North will also have a 27-space parking garage, 10 individual garages off the alley and rooftop terrace seating.

If demand for the apartments is strong, developers have talked about a second identical building going up nearby. The ground floor of the building will be retail shops and restaurants.

Early in the project, the Billings City Council unanimously approved contributing $1.7 million in tax increment funding from the Downtown TIF District.

Construction continues at the Old Town Flats located on the corner of 1st Avenue North and North 23rd Street in downtown Billings on Thursday, Apr. 4.

The brick building had been a warehouse, first built in 1915, and had been vacant for two years, according to a post from the Downtown Billings Association.
