ARDOT traffic reminders ahead of Mondays solar eclipse [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – It’s called the “dance of shadows,” and on Monday, people will flock to Middle America to take a look at the Great American Eclipse.

The path of totality will run right through Northeast Arkansas and many people from Memphis will be making the trip, but before you head across the river, there are some things you should know.

According to the American Automobile Association, during the last total solar eclipse in 2017, it’s estimated some five million people took to the roads, and those numbers will potentially be much higher this year.

Cannon Callicott with the Arkansas Department of Transportation says with the I-55 bridge being down to just one lane on Monday, it will most likely be backed up.

“There is a TDOT construction project, so it will be one lane in one direction, so that will probably back up the quickest, I-40 is possibly the same way,” …
