Hundreds of thousands of free solar eclipse glasses were donated to all Arkansas public schools like Fayetteville and Springdale public schools. With these glasses, students and staff can now view this natural phenomenon safely.“You need to make sure you have your glasses. And if the glasses are certified, they will have an ISO stamp on it. And so you need to make sure that you don’t have fraudulent glasses because it could lead to eye damage,” said Lesley Merritt, the director of science at Fayetteville Public Schools.Over 25,000 pairs were donated to Springdale and 13,000 in Fayetteville. While Fayetteville will be out of class the day of the eclipse, Springdale will have school as normal.“This is such a unique event. And so the opportunity for kids to go outside and see the wonder that is the solar eclipse hopefully sparks some curiosity. And for them to continue to explore the …
