Arson suspect arrested after multiple vehicles, townhome catch fire in Old Colorado City [Video]

One man was arrested Sunday night after a series of vehicle fires and at least one structure fire in Old Colorado City, according to Colorado Springs police.

Bernie Hidalgo, 28, could face several misdemeanor and felony charges, including arson, police said.

Crews from the Colorado Springs Fire Department were dispatched to a vehicle on fire in an alleyway in the 2700 block of West Pikes Peak Avenue at about 8:50 p.m., officials said. The fire was threatening a nearby garage at a townhome.

Less than 30 minutes later, a second vehicle fire in the 2400 block of West Kiowa Street, also endangering a structure, was reported with CSPD and CSFD personnel responding. Calls about a third vehicle fire in the 2000 block of West Kiowa, were reported at about 10:15 p.m., according to police and firefighting sources. The third fire also involved a car and carport on fire.
