ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Childcare providers around the country and in Atlanta closed their doors on Monday to call attention to what they say is a dire lack of funding.
The national Day Without Childcare movement is meant to draw attention to the vital role early education and childcare play in the American economy.
Right now, providers said they and the families they service need more help.
“We are needed, we are needed, we are needed,” said Pamela Robinson, who runs Tree Branch Learning Academy in Smryna. “If we don’t have childcare, who is going to take care of your children?”
“It’s a real issue for the economy, it’s a real issue for everyday people, it’s a real issue for our children as well as adults,” said Dr. Benjamin Moore III, who runs Keys 2 Tha Lexis, a literacy group that partners with childcare centers around the metro …
