Atlantic Coast High School principal named Florida Principal of the Year [Video]

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – Dr. Michael George, principal of Atlantic Coast High School, was named Florida’s Principal of the Year, according to the Florida Department of Education.

The Duval County educator received the news on Thursday during a principal’s meeting.

“I’m proud to be a part of Duval. I’m honored to take this award for my staff, my students and my community,” George said in a video posted by Duval County Public Schools.

But the good news for Northeast Florida educators didn’t stop there.

John Michael Chaires, assistant principal of Palatka Jr.-Sr. High School, was named Florida’s Assistant Principal of the Year.

“Chaires’ achievement serves as an inspiration to educators across the state, illustrating the profound impact that dedicated leaders can have on the lives of students and the success of their schools,” high school officials wrote on Facebook.
