HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -The warmest day of the year so far came complete with wall to wall sunshine and a fast southwest breeze. In spring the adage “the faster the wind blows from the southwest, the higher the temperature goes” is a mainstay. Now often when it gets windy and hot in spring we deal with thunderstorms. Tonight that is the case in far Northern WV, but as that storm line settles south towards us it will be arriving so late at night that only a scattered shower is likely to make the long pass thru our region.
Looking into the new work and school week, the air will be seasonably warm in the 70s and afternoon thundershowers will be scattered on most day. The mid-week period looks to have the more potent showers though severe weather is less likely this week compared to recent weeks.
