US President Joe Biden has suggested his uncle was “eaten by cannibals.”

Biden spoke about his late uncle during a campaign stop at the United Steelworkers headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday.

The President’s uncle, who he called “Uncle Bosie,” died while he was serving in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, the president said.

Speaking before a crowd of supporters on Wednesday, Biden said: “When I left Scranton today, I wanted to go to the war memorial of veterans who died during World War II. I wanted to see the name of my Uncle Bosie…

“My uncle became an Army Air Corps and flew those single engine planes as reconnaissance over war zones. He got shot down in New Guinea. They never found the body because there used to be a lot of cannibals in that part of New Guinea…”
