TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – For the first time in a decade, Cochise County will have a new attorney.
Brian McIntyre announced on X that he didn’t get enough signatures to get on the November ballot.
“Politics is a dangerous game and I lost this round. However, fear not, I’ll continue to fight for this county,” he wrote.
McIntyre, a Republican, has been in the spotlight over the last few years for several reasons — attempts to hand count the 2022 election results, a delay in certifying the results, and a DUI arrest.
The Cochise County Board of Supervisors said they wanted to do a hand count of the 2022 results, but McIntyre told the three supervisors it was illegal and he couldn’t represent them if they were charged or sued.
Days before the general election, the Republican supervisors abandoned plans to hand count all ballots, which a court also said would be illegal.
