Brockton School Committee members explain why they want National Guard at high school [Video]

The four members of the Brockton School Committee who seek the Massachusetts National Guard’s assistance with security matters at Brockton High School are explaining why they believe the move is necessary.School Committee members Joyce Asack, Claudio Gomes, Ana Oliver and Tony Rodrigues held a public news conference outside Brockton High late Monday morning to address the issue.According to a letter obtained Sunday by NewsCenter 5, those four School Committee members asked Brockton Mayor Robert Sullivan if he could contact Gov. Maura Healey and request the deployment of the National Guard to help restore order at Brockton High School and “prevent a potential tragedy.”In the letter, the four School Committee members wrote that the school has experienced a disturbing increase in incidents related to violence, security concerns and substance abuse over the past few months.
