On Wednesday, Burlington city leaders welcomed a federal partner to the Queen City to try to figure out how to build more affordable housing.The Cambrian Rise properties, such as the Laurentide and Juniper house apartment complexes, have been providing housing to hundreds of mixed-income Vermonters, including those previously on the streets.Champlain Housing Trust CEO Michael Monte said that wouldn’t have been possible without the federal government’s help, in funding the vouchers for those in need.”This building was successful because of HUD funding,” said Monte.However thousands are still on the waitlist to move in, so Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak is looking at all options.”Making sure we continue to do initiatives that support housing and again that it’s affordable housing in our community,” said Mulvaney-Stanak.To do that, Mulvaney-Stanak wants to strengthen the city’s relationship with federal partners.The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development sent their regional administrator Juana Matias to meet with …
