BYRON, Minn. – The mental wellness project comes from the school’s Design Studio teaching students technical skills to help transform the city community for the better.
8th graders are creating a website geared toward providing students with videos and tips guiding users on how to best practice improving their mental health.
However, this is more than just a website. Students are also filming a documentary about mental health at Byron Middle School. Additionally, 8th graders are developing trinkets through a 3D printer. This is to help kids cope with anxiety by allowing them to play with something in their hands, like a fidget spinner.
The school says its allowing these students to open up and have the tough conversations surrounding mental health.
