CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Lockdowns at Carlsbad High School and Carlsbad Village Academy were lifted Thursday morning after police determined an earlier threat was “not credible,” district officials said.

Shortly before 10 a.m., Carlsbad police said the high school in the 3500 block of Monroe Street was on a “precautionary” lockdown. Carlsbad Village Academy was also placed on lockdown, district officials said.

Around 10:30 a.m., Carlsbad Unified School District officials said police had removed the schools from lockdown and determined the campus was safe.

“Out of an abundance of caution, officers will remain onsite,” police said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Nearby schools were placed on “secure campus”: Jefferson Elementary, Kelly Elementary, Buena Vista Elementary and Valley Middle.
